A data source product is a product as one data source knows it, identified by the data source’s own ID for it. The competitor offers that data source finds for the product, from the merchants that sell it, are filed under it. When the data source product is linked to one of your catalog products, its offers count for that product everywhere in Pricing Intelligence. Open Pricing Intelligence > Data Source Products to see them. You need the Data Source Product permission; adding, changing, deleting and discovering need more, see Permissions.

Where data source products come from

You rarely add them by hand. Omnilinker creates them:
  • when you confirm a match on Product matching. The new data source product is linked to the product you matched;
  • when a crawl of a data source returns a product the data source has not had before. It starts unlinked.
To have Omnilinker look for a product on a data source, use discovery; see Find products on a data source.

The list

The list shows 25 data source products per page. Click a column header to sort; you can sort by several columns at once. Use the column chooser at the end of the pager to hide or show columns, and drag a column’s edge to resize it. Each row’s actions menu offers Edit, Price History and Delete. Price History shows the prices of every offer of that data source product, across all its merchants; see Price history. Some pages open the list already narrowed: a data source’s products from Data Sources, or a product’s confirmed matches from Product Matching. The Grouping menu (Expand All Groups, Collapse All Groups) has no effect here: the list is not grouped.

Find data source products

Type in the search box and press Enter. It finds the text anywhere in the name, the brand or the external product ID. The search matches the letter case you type: “acme” does not find “ACME”. It takes up to 100 characters.

Filters

Click Advanced Filters to open Filter data source products. The dialog counts the matching products as you change it; nothing changes on the page until you click Apply filter. In Simple mode, the dialog has its own Quick search box, which searches the same fields as the toolbar box (its hint mentions the category, but the category is not searched), and these groups:
  • Identity & classification: Name, Brand, Category and External Product Identifier.
  • Source & linking: Data Source, and Internal Products (Multiple Selection) to show the data source products linked to the catalog products you pick.
In Advanced mode, click Add condition and build conditions on Name, Brand, Category, External product ID and Product mapping status (Mapped or Unmapped). Choose Combine: All (AND) or Any (OR). A filter holds at most 25 conditions. Use Product mapping status = Unmapped to find the data source products that are not linked to a catalog product yet. Applied filters appear as chips under the toolbar. Click × on a chip to remove it, or Clear All Filters.

Saved views

The Views: row works as on the product overview: Save Current Filter saves the filters and search, the ⋯ menu on a view offers Edit name, Update with current filters, and Set as Default or Unset Default, and the bin icon (Delete view) deletes the view. Saved views are shared by everyone in your organization; see Saved views.
1

Open the data source product

In the row’s actions menu, click Edit. Update Data Source Product opens.
2

Pick the catalog product

In Product, search by name, SKU or GTIN and pick the product. To unlink, clear the field.
3

Save

Click Save.
The data source product’s offers move to the product you picked the next time the data source is crawled. An offer that someone moved by hand with Wrong product? stays where it was put. Clearing the field does not move offers that are already filed under a product; to take an offer off a product, use Wrong product? on the offer; see Fix a wrong product match.

Add a data source product

1

Open the form

Click New Data Source Product.
2

Fill it in

  • Data Source: the data source the product belongs to. Required.
  • External Product Identifier: the data source’s own ID for the product. Required, and unique within the data source. The form does not mark the field: if you leave it empty, saving fails with a general error.
  • Name, Description, Brand, Category: as the data source shows them.
  • Extra Metadata: free text.
  • Product: the catalog product to link it to. Optional.
3

Save

Click Save.

Change a data source product

Click Edit in the row’s actions menu, change the fields and click Save. You can change every field described in Add a data source product except Data Source: the product stays in the data source it was created in, even if you pick another one in the form.

Delete data source products

  • One: click Delete in the row’s actions menu and confirm “Are you sure to delete the data source product …?”.
  • Several: tick the rows, click Delete (N) above the list and confirm “Are you sure to delete N data source products?”.
Deleting a data source product also deletes all its offers. A match suggestion it came from on Product matching is archived. If the data source still lists the product, a later crawl can add it again, unlinked.
To stop following a catalog product in Pricing Intelligence altogether without losing its offers and price history, stop tracking it instead; see Work with several products.

Find products on a data source

1

Open discovery

Click Discover Products.
2

Choose the products

In Select Products for Discovery, search for and pick the catalog products.
3

Choose the data sources

In Select Data Sources for Discovery, pick one or more data sources.
4

Start

Click Start Discovery. Omnilinker starts one search per data source. When a data source is already searching, the products wait in its queue and start when that search ends.
The matches it finds appear on Product matching for you to confirm. A confirmed match becomes a data source product on this list.

Troubleshooting

Another data source product in the same data source already has this External Product Identifier. Search for the identifier and edit the existing one instead. The error does not say this yet: it shows a general message.
The catalog product you picked in Product no longer exists. Pick another product or clear the field.
The quick search matches letter case and looks only in the name, the brand and the external product ID. Try the spelling the data source uses, or use Advanced Filters.
The link names a data source that no longer exists or that you cannot see. The list opens without that filter.
Pick a data source in Select Data Sources for Discovery before you click Start Discovery.
