Before you start
- You need the Orders permission to open floor mode, and Use buttons, shortcuts and barcodes to press its tiles. See Permissions.
- Choose the station you pack at with Choose station in the top bar, so that labels print there. See Choose your station.
- A barcode scanner that types like a keyboard and ends each scan with Enter works without setup. You can also type an order number and press Enter.
Open floor mode
Open it in one of these ways:- On the Orders list, click Floor mode next to the title.
- On an order’s card, open Actions and choose Open in floor mode. Floor mode opens with that order.
- Click Choose station in the top bar, then Floor mode at the bottom of the picker.
- Open Sales > Floor mode.
Floor mode covers the top bar. To change your station, click Exit floor mode, choose it with Choose station, and
open floor mode again.
Pack an order
1
Scan the order
The screen says Scan an order. Scan the order’s number or its parcel’s barcode (the tracking number), or type
the number, such as
10486 or #10486, and press Enter. A parcel’s number is looked for first; #10486 always
means order 10486.The order opens: its number and status, where it came from and who gets it, how it is delivered, its lines with
SKU, shelf and quantity, and the buyer’s note.2
Pack it
Pick the lines and pack them.
3
Press a tile
Under At this station, click a tile, press its shortcut, or scan its barcode. Each tile shows its shortcut “or
scan its barcode”. A tile for other statuses than the order’s is greyed out; see
An order in another status.
4
Read the banner
The result banner appears above the order. See The result banner.
5
Scan the next order
When the banner says the press is done, click Scan the next order, or simply scan it.
Scanning
The field Ready to scan an order, a parcel or a trigger has the focus. A scan is recognised wherever the focus is, because a scanner types much faster than a person; Omnilinker takes the code and puts the focus back in the field.- A trigger’s barcode, which starts with
OL-T-, presses that trigger on the open order. With no order open, the log says “Scan an order first, then the trigger.” - Anything else is looked up as an order number or a parcel’s tracking number.
The result banner
The banner follows the press as it runs, step by step, and lists each step with what it did.When a press fails
- Try again runs the failed steps of the press again. “Trying again won’t repeat what’s already done”: a shipment already created is not created twice.
- Hand to a person holds automations on the order, with the failure as the reason, so nothing else happens to it by itself until someone has looked. The banner says “Handed to a person: automations wait on #… until someone releases it.” The hold is shown on the order card; see Hold automations on an order.
Where labels print
When an automation started from floor mode prints a label, the label goes to the station you chose in the top bar, if that station can take it. A shipment the press creates belongs to your station too, so a label the carrier sends later prints there as well. If your station cannot print the label, the label goes the usual way; see Automatic printing. A label that waits at a station, for example because the printer is out of paper, does not make the press fail. The header shows that your station is not printing. To print waiting labels elsewhere, open Devices > Stations and use Send … waiting to … on your station, or move the jobs on Devices > Print jobs.The scan log
What happened here keeps the last 12 things done at this screen, newest first, with the time:- “Opened #…”, or “Opened #… from the parcel’s barcode”;
- “Nothing here is called …” for a code that is not an order, a parcel or a trigger;
- “No trigger here has the barcode …” for a trigger code you cannot press here;
- “Pressed “…” on #…”, then how it ended: done, didn’t finish, nothing applies, waits, or didn’t arrive.
