Search or jump to… in the top bar finds your orders, products, customers and other records, the pages in the menu and the actions you can take, from any page. Opened on a record’s page, it also offers what you can do with that record next.

Open it

  • Click Search or jump to… in the top bar.
  • Or press Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac) on any page, even while you are typing in a field.
  • On a phone, tap the search field at the top. The search fills the screen.
Press Esc or click outside it to close it. Before you type, it shows Recent (what you opened last), the actions On this page, and a few other Actions.

Find a record

Type at least two characters. Every module you have is searched at once, and the results come back in groups, one per kind of record, followed by Go to (pages in the menu whose name, or the name of their area, matches) and Actions. With one character, you get only pages and actions. You see only the modules enabled for your organization, and only the records your permissions let you see. As on the orders list, a buyer’s name is masked unless you may see personal data. A rule named exactly what you typed comes first in its group. A group’s heading shows how many records it found, where the module counts them, and All in Products →, All in Offers → and All in Merchants → open that list searched for what you typed.

Exact match

When what you type is exactly one record’s identifier, that record leaves its group and comes first, as Exact match: press Enter to open it. Some have buttons for the next step, such as Show in the list for a product, or Stock Levels and Stock Movements for a warehouse. If the identifier belongs to two records (a number that is both an order number and a SKU, for example), there is no exact match: each record stays first in its own group.

Search in one module

Search in under the search box lists Everything and each module you can search. Pick one to search only that module: it shows up to 10 results instead of 5, and leaves out pages, actions and On this record. Pick Everything to search them all again. If you have unsaved changes on the page, Omnilinker asks before leaving it, as it does for a link.

Actions

Type > first to see only actions. Enter runs the highlighted one: it opens the page where that task starts. Press Backspace over the > to search everything again. The actions for the page you are on come first, under On this page. You see an action only if you have permission to do it. Actions are never added to Recent.

Keyboard shortcuts

Type ? on its own to list the keys: opening the search, actions only, Ctrl+Enter and Esc, the actions whose page gives them a key (N for New product), and the G letters you have.

On this record

Opened on a page that shows one record, the search leads with On this record and the record’s name (for example Order #1042), with what you can do with it from every module you have. You see only the actions you have permission for, in the modules enabled for your organization. An action that leads to the page you are already on is left out. When you type, the group keeps the actions whose name matches your words (floor keeps Pack in floor mode); the record’s name alone keeps none. If a module’s actions did not load in time, the group says Some actions did not load.
New order for this customer and New order for this contact start a draft order straight away, as the New order button in the contact’s panel does.

G, then a letter

Outside a text field, with no dialog open, press G: a hint under the search field lists the letters you have. Press one within five seconds to open that page. Esc, any other key or a click cancels. You get only the letters for the modules and pages you can open. In the search, a page in Go to that has a letter shows it beside its name.

Recent

Recent lists the last five records and pages you opened from the search, newest first. The list is kept in this browser only: another browser or computer has its own, and a private window, or a browser that blocks site data, keeps none.

When a module does not answer

Each module has two seconds to answer, and the search four seconds in all. If one takes longer or fails, or the search runs out of time before it gets to a module, you see what the others found, and the bottom of the search names the ones that did not answer, for example Shipments did not answer. Type again to retry. When every module answered, the bottom says how many were searched instead. No match for “…” means that none of the modules searched found what you typed. If some did not answer, the record may still exist: try again, or search the module’s own list.
