# Key concepts

> The terms Omnilinker uses for prices, margins, markets and merchants.

These are the terms you meet across Omnilinker. Each one links to the page that covers it in full.

## Catalog

### Product

A product in your own catalog: the item you sell or make, with its SKU, GTIN, brand and prices. Everything else in
Omnilinker (competitor offers, repricing, stock, marketplace listings) hangs off a catalog product. See
[Products](/catalog/products).

### Tracked product

A catalog product with **Track in Pricing Intelligence** turned on. Only tracked products are matched with
competitor listings and watched for offers. Tracking is off for a new product until you turn it on. See
[Products](/catalog/products).

### Brand

The brand a product belongs to. Brands let you filter the catalog, and the manufacturer dashboard can show one brand
at a time. See [Brands, categories and tags](/catalog/brands-categories-tags).

### Price level

A named price list, such as your shop price or a wholesale price. Each product can have one price on each level. A
level can declare a currency; every price stored on it must then be in that currency. See
[Price levels](/catalog/price-levels).

### Recommended retail price (RRP)

One price level per organization can be marked **Set as Recommended Retail Price**. Pricing Intelligence compares
competitor offers with that level unless a market names a different one in **Compared against**. See
[Price levels](/catalog/price-levels).

### Purchase price

What you pay to acquire one unit of a product, held as net, gross, VAT rate and currency. A purchase price nobody has
recorded is unknown, and Omnilinker never reads it as zero. A purchase price of 0 recorded on purpose (a gift, a
sample) is a known zero; only a person can record one. See [Purchase prices](/catalog/purchase-prices).

### Purchase price history

The record of a product's purchase prices over time, newest first, on the **Purchase price history** tab of the
product. Entries are never edited: a correction appears as a new entry. Each entry shows where the price came from
(entered manually, ERP sync, Excel import, bulk edit). See [Purchase prices](/catalog/purchase-prices).

### Known time and business time

Known time is the moment Omnilinker learned a purchase price; the history shows it as **Recorded**. Business time is
the moment the source says the price became true, such as the ERP's own change time, shown as "Effective at the
source". Omnilinker always looks prices up by known time, so a replay of the past (an alert backtest or a repricer
dry run) sees only what Omnilinker could have seen then. See [Purchase prices](/catalog/purchase-prices).

### Margin

The share of a selling price left after the purchase price: (price − purchase price) ÷ price. The repricer's margin
floor compares net with net; alert margin conditions compare gross with gross. No margin is computed against an
unknown purchase price. Against a known zero, an alert reads the margin as 100%, while the repricer does not set a
price at all.

Omnilinker does not use markup, (price − purchase price) ÷ purchase price. A margin figure in Omnilinker is never a
markup.

## Pricing Intelligence

### Market

A country and currency scope, such as Poland in PLN. Every data source belongs to one market, and the market decides
the currency offers are compared in and the price level they are compared with (**Compared against**). A market's
code and currency cannot be changed after you create it. See
[Markets and data sources](/pricing-intelligence/markets-and-data-sources).

### Data source

A place where Omnilinker looks for competitor offers in one market: Google Shopping, Amazon, Ceneo or Allegro. A
data source is scraped when you click **Run** or on a schedule. See
[Markets and data sources](/pricing-intelligence/markets-and-data-sources).

### Scrape

One run of a data source: Omnilinker fetches the current offers for every product matched in that source. Runs use
the pricing data provider set up for your organization. See
[Pricing data provider](/administration/pricing-data-provider).

### Merchant

A competitor or reseller whose offers Omnilinker observes, identified by its shop domain (for example
`shop-a.example`). A merchant is never an Omnilinker customer. Omnilinker adds merchants on its own as it finds their
offers; the manufacturer dashboard calls them resellers. See [Merchants](/pricing-intelligence/merchants).

### Offer

One merchant's listing of one of your products on a data source, with its price, its link and the time it was
scraped. Each scrape adds a price point to the offer's history. See [Offers](/pricing-intelligence/offers) and
[Price history](/pricing-intelligence/price-history).

### Product matching

Linking your tracked products to the right listings on each data source. Omnilinker searches the source and
suggests candidates; you approve or reject them. A product has no offers from a source until it is matched there.
See [Product matching](/pricing-intelligence/product-matching).

### Gap, tolerance and compliance

Terms from the manufacturer dashboard. A gap is an offer whose price is further from the reference price (usually
the RRP) than the tolerance allows, 5% by default. Compliance is the share of comparable offers within tolerance or
covered by an agreed promotion. See [Key terms](/pricing-intelligence/manufacturer-dashboard/overview#key-terms).

### Alert rule

A condition on prices or offers, such as a competitor price moving by more than a set percentage or your margin
falling below a threshold, that notifies you when it is met. See [Alert rules](/pricing-intelligence/alert-rules).

### Repricer recommendation

A new price that a repricer rule proposes for a product, based on competitor offers and your constraints. A rule in
**Suggest** mode sends its recommendations to the **Recommendation queue** for you to approve; a rule in
**Auto-apply** mode writes prices directly and queues only the exceptions. See
[How the repricer works](/pricing-intelligence/repricer/how-it-works) and
[Recommendation queue](/pricing-intelligence/repricer/recommendations).

## Your organization

### Organization

Your company's own space in Omnilinker, with its own catalog, users and settings. Omnilinker turns some modules on
or off per organization. See [Modules and feature availability](/administration/features).

### Roles and permissions

What each user can see and do is set by the roles they hold. A menu item you have no permission for is not shown.
See [Users and roles](/administration/users-and-roles).
