# Choose your station

> Tell Omnilinker which station the computer you work on prints to, with Choose station in the top bar.

Print buttons in Omnilinker send labels to your station: the station the computer you work on prints to. You pick it
once per computer with **Choose station** in the top bar, next to the notification bell. Your choice is also what makes
the labels of the shipments you create print by themselves when the carrier sends them; see
[Automatic printing](/devices/automatic-printing).

**Choose station** is shown when stations are enabled for your organization and you have the **Choose a station to
print at** permission. To print, you also need the **Print** permission. See
[Permissions](/devices/overview#permissions).

## Choose a station

    send labels to the station you pick here."

    Stations are grouped by location, with **No location** last. Each station shows its health, for example **Online**, the
    printer problem when it **Needs attention**, and who else prints there, for example "Anna prints here too". An
    offline station cannot be picked.

    Tick **Make it my usual station** to have Omnilinker pick this station for you on a computer you have not used
    before. It is ticked for you when you have no usual station yet.

    Click **Print at** followed by the station's name.

The button then shows the station's name and a dot for its health: green when its printers are ready, orange when a
printer needs attention or printing is paused, red when the station is offline. The picker refreshes every minute.

## How the choice is kept

* **Per computer and browser.** The choice is saved in this browser for you. On another computer, or in another
  browser, you choose again, or Omnilinker picks your usual station.
* **Shared stations.** Any number of people can choose the same station. The **Stations** page shows them under
  **Printing here now**.
* **Your usual station.** Marked **Your usual** in the picker. It is only a suggestion for new computers; it never
  sends a label anywhere by itself.

If your station is removed, or you lose access to its location, you have no station until you choose another one.

## Which stations you see

You see the paired stations you may print at. A location can allow **Everyone**, or **Only these roles or people**;
stations of a location you are not allowed at do not appear. Stations with no location are open to everyone. The
bottom of the picker lists the locations you can print at, for example "You can print at Warehouse A, Office
stations."

When there is no station you can print at, the picker says "There are no stations you can print at yet." with
**Set up a station**, which opens **Devices** > **Stations**.

## No station

Choose **No station** and confirm with **Download instead of printing** to stop printing from this computer. The print
buttons then have no station to send to: **Print label** opens its menu, where you pick a printer at any station you may
use, or download the label. See [Print labels](/shipping/shipments#print-labels).

Shipments you create with no station chosen do not print by themselves when the label arrives.

## Still at the same station?

A location can ask people to confirm their station at the start of each shift: the setting **Ask people to confirm
their station at the start of each shift** in [Locations](/devices/stations#locations). It is off for a new location.

When it is on for your station's location and you last confirmed your station more than 12 hours ago, the picker opens
by itself when you open Omnilinker, titled **Still at the same station?**: "It's been a while. Check where this
computer prints before the first label." Click **Yes, still at** followed by the station's name, or pick another
station.
